Presenter Information

Welcome Presenters!

On behalf of the Conference Planning Team, thank you for agreeing to share your expertise and insights on one of many different aspects of building a world that values and engages all generations.  The lineup of presentations is extraordinary, and we are honored that you are a part of it.

You will be notified by email in early April with the date and time for your session.

All presenters must register by March 31, 2025, to confirm their session.

General Guidelines

All presenters must register for the Conference and pay the registration fee by March 31, 2025, to confirm their session. Please refer to the email from Generations United for your discount promo code.

Remember that most people attending the conference have a general understanding of intergenerational and grandfamilies/kinship topics. Please do not spend too much time on background information like definitions and demographics.

Please show up to your meeting room at least 10 minutes prior to your start time to ensure enough time for any final setup needs. A technician will be in each session.

This conference is about information sharing, interaction, and building/strengthening a field.  We know you will, but to state the obvious, engage your “audience” as colleagues.

You are asked to make your presentation substantive, not commercial. Limit the use of company/product names. Focus on technical content. Corporate logos must not distract from the content.  And be careful not to include proprietary or copyrighted material in presentations.

There are multiple types of sessions.  If you need a reminder of the kind of session you are a part of, email conference@gu.org.

Please adhere to the guidelines for the type of session in which you are presenting.

Tips for a Successful Session

PowerPoints/Slides: Conventional wisdom has it that each slide should include just a small number of points in a large font that is readable by attendees sitting in the back row. Dense content is impossible to read. Images that demonstrate a point are a plus.

Flow of presentation: It is helpful to state what the presentation will seek to convey in a few points at the onset to focus participants’ attention.

Make it Interactive: We all know that people learn by participating. Please try to incorporate “audience” participation to the extent possible.

Keep to Time: Please follow the time limits set for the type of presentation you are making and the guidance of a moderator if one is present in your session. All sessions will have room monitors to assist with timekeeping.

Have fun!
